Lonnie Bruhn is a local comedian and website designer extraordinaire. We wish to both welcome you to the launching of the website Too Wet To Burn. The mission statement is as follows:
Standup comedy is the most noble, and least appreciated, art form on the planet. Portland has one of the most vibrant comedy movements in the country-as in, comics are moving here from all over the world. Los Angeles and New York come in a close second and third. If you want a master’s degree in comedy, hang out in LA and NY, take your lumps and then take it back to Portland.
Portland has the best comedy scene in the country. This website will focus on all things standup. If you’re into improv, kudos. This is not the site for you, but there is a lot of spillover and most of the same theaters and clubs feature both standup and improv. Keep coming back! Some of the goodies you will find here is interviews with local comics (only local!!), my podcast, other comedians’ podcasts, pictures, videos and commentary. And of course, the most robust calendar listings of comedy around town, including, but not limited to, open mics, showcases, and fine, occasionally an improv show listing. Quit bossing me, funny people!
Thanks for visiting, if you don’t laugh in Portland, you’re dead inside.
